I purchased them because I wanted to explore YSF/Wires-X, as I've already done plenty of analog FM, D-Star and DMR. These are also the first Yaesu radios I have owned. For comparison, similar radios that I own are a Kenwood TH-d74a, Alinco DJ-MD5T, and an Icom ID-5100A.
